July was a busy month for us. We had the fun trip to San Diego, we signed papers on for our new home, and then we had to move in to our new home (of course). We spent hours unpacking. My family, Ryan, and our friends Greg and Shannon helped us settle in as much as they could. My dad was so kind as to tame the wild savanna that was our back yard thanks to 2 years of neglect (as reported by the neighbors) on one of the hot July days.
Finally, it was almost midnight on the first night that we were to sleep in our house. We had put the kids (Ryan and his friend, Michael)to bed and were completely exhausted. Bruce and I were looking around the house in amazement of what we had accomplished and what we planned to accomplish. Bruce told me that there was only one thing missing from the scenario - and then he proposed to me. He had a sweet speech that I can barely remember because I was so exhausted and would keep to myself anyways. I, of course, cried. I was so excited and amazed I couldn't sleep. After we went to bed I kept making Bruce turn the light on so I could stare at my ring in amazement.
For at least a week after, I was looking at my ring all the time. It kept sneaking up on me and I would think - "Oh yeah! I'm engaged!" I was distracted by it all the time - while driving, hiking, laying out at the lake, while doing therapy, etc. I love being engaged to Bruce. He can make the simple things in life seem so magical and the big things in life seem miraculous.
